Doro Pesch is the probably the first true Metal goddess and pin up. Many teenage boys in the 80’s had posters of the singer on their bedroom walls, me included. So what made the front woman of the German outfit Warlock so special? Not only was she hot she had power behind those vocals. 25 years later she is still going strong as a solo artist.
This is a collection of some of her finest moments showing power and a softer side to her talents. There is a mix of Warlock and Solo songs and I remember the likes “Metal Tango” and “I rule the Ruins” which has been reworked with the Classic Night Orchestra, this will take some getting used to. Both songs come from what is probably the best Warlock album Triumph and Agony along with the beautiful ballad Für Immer translated as “forever”
Doro has done some impressive albums over the years. Some of these I have not heard before but songs like “Celebrate” and “Rare Diamond” really stands out but the biggest surprise is her version of Judas Priest’s “Breaking the Law” which Doro has put her own twist on.
Overall this double album collection is a must for any fan that does not own everything by her and is a good showcase of her vocal range.
(9/10)
